Lost and Scared

Help!  Where am I?  Have I been kidnapped?  What’s that on the wall?  It kind of looks like a warning sign.  It says, “Dangerous experiment substances leaked.  Seeing smoke or steam may result in instant death if inhaled.”  Let’s just forget about that for a while.  This place seems like a hospital.  Oh no!  Those are scary!

I start pounding the door.  It was pale and white and the corners were chipped.  Misty grey smoke was seeping into the room; I want to go home!  I thought about everything that happened to me.  You could say that my life flashed before my eyes.

I take a step back.  The shivering went from head to toe like a queen racing on a chessboard.  My hands trembled as they clutched each other.  Why is this taking so long?  Is this what it’s like to die?  Do you have to wait?  I don’t get it!  One moment I’m in my room eating my secret stash of cookies.  The next, I’m supposed to die!

I glanced at the paper stuck to the front of the bed by blutac.  I couldn’t believe what I saw.  The door opens in slow motion.  Static.
